Library & Learning Support Services

Would you benefit from access to our library facilities?

As an alumnus, graduate or award holder you are entitled to become a Guest User of the Library after you leave on an annual subscription basis.

As an alumnus member you will be able to borrow up to 5 books for a period of 2 weeks and will also be able to use any of the University’s libraries at the Civic Quarter, Headingley and Harrogate campuses. You will be able to use over 300,000 items including books, journals, reports, reference sources and a range of other learning resources.

However, due to licensing, membership excludes access to electronic resources and you will not be able to have a computing account. You will also not be able to borrow material in high demand in the Short Loan Collection or audio-visual materials.

Alumni membership cost £50 per year. The membership year runs for 12 months from the date the card is issued.

Careers Development Service

If you are a graduate seeking help with your career then the Career Development Service can be useful to you by providing access to impartial advice and information on a wide range of occupational and learning opportunities.

The service can help you with making choices about the job and learning opportunities available to you, developing career skills and employability and finding a job or a course. Contact the Alumni Office for more information.

Sport

Leeds Met has a huge range of top class sports facilities, with regional centres of excellence in Athletics, Tennis and Gymnastics. Whether you want to use sports facilities for recreation and fitness or as a competitive athlete, Leeds Met can guarantee some of the best facilities in the country. Language Courses

Leeds Met School of Languages offers a wide range of part time evening and daytime courses in over 20 languages. These courses are taught by expert tutors, the majority of whom are native speakers of the language you study. In 2004/5 classes will begin in the week beginning 4 October, and will be taught at the Headingley Campus, Beckett Park.

Business Start up

Business Start-Up@Leeds Met is a University project designed to support young student and graduate entrepreneurs. It is one of four partner universities tasked by Yorkshire Forward, the regional development agency, to encourage new business start-ups in the Yorkshire and Humber region.

Business Start-Up@Leeds Met offers a comprehensive range of services at each stage of the start-up process from ‘idea’ to ‘launch’. Workshops discussing business ideas, motivation and development and planning guide students through the initial stages. An annual Entrepreneurs’ Summer School works as a crash course comprising everything it takes to start up in business.

The service is open to current students and all graduates living in the Leeds area.
